Considering alternatives to Zelnorm® for your constipation patients?
Keep them going with Kristalose
The FDA requested the suspension of marketing and distribution of Zelnorm (tegaserod maleate). Physicians have been advised to work with their patients to transition them to other therapies as appropriate to their symptoms and needs.
In considering other treatment options for your patients with acute or chronic constipation, consider KRISTALOSE® (lactulose) For Oral Solution. KRISTALOSE is indicated for the treatment of constipation. In patients with a history of chronic constipation, lactulose therapy increases the number of bowel movements per day and the number of days on which bowel movements occur.
KRISTALOSE delivers fast constipation relief, usually within 24 to 48 hours. The convenient 10 g and 20 g easy-to-dose, portable packets dissolve quickly in 4 oz. of water and are virtually tasteless and grit-free. In addition, there are no length-of-use restrictions* when prescribing KRISTALOSE.
To help you transition your patients with constipation to KRISTALOSE, a sample request form is available to download for your convenience. Please complete and fax the form to receive your 10 g and 20 g pre-measured sample packs.
*Elderly, debilitated patients who receive lactulose for more than six months should have serum electrolytes (potassium, chloride, carbon dioxide) measured periodically.
